Bible verses used were Proverbs 18:11, Ecc 5:10, Matt 6:24, and 1 Timothy 6:17. Church offers Bible Studies and opportunities to get involved. Crosspoint is offered to college students (and others) Sunday nights at 7 PM.

Christian Life Center

Wednesday January 14, 2009

I visited Christian Life Center tonight. This was a Wednesday night service. This is a Pentecostal church and had a worship style service. The preacher was Brother Alders and he preached on modesty in dress and behavior and on pride. He said that we are to put Jesus first; others second, and ourselves last. Everyone seemed very friendly toward me and I was invited back. Brother Alders read from the KJV translation and the Bible verses included the following: Deuteronomy 22:5, 1 Corinthians 6:19, 1 Corinthians 13:4, and 1 Timothy 2:8-9. I would like to visit this church again on a Sunday morning and night service.

Oak Grove Baptist Church

Wednesday January 7, 2009

I attended Oak Grove Baptist Church tonight. The paper said that services started at 6 P.M. but they actually started at 6:30 P.M. The Bible study leader read from Ephesians 4:11, Hebrews 5:12, Matthew 7:24, and Proverbs 2:2. The lesson was on how we should study God’s word and try to mature everyday in Christ. Everyone was very friendly here and invited me back. They gave us prayer lists and told us that Sunday school was at 9:15 and that there was a College and Career class I could attend.

New Faith Baptist Church

Update: this church is no longer in existence that I can tell. The building is now home to an Hispanic church.

Sunday January 4, 2009

I went to New Faith Baptist Church. I thought the services started at 6 P.M. When I arrived, the congregation was already in a meeting. I was told by Kyle Klemcke, the pastor, that for now the Sunday night meetings were moved to 5 P.M. due to daylight savings time. The Bible verse that I was able to catch that Dr. Kyle was teaching from was Joshua 2:8. Everyone seemed friendly and introduced themselves to me. I got a schedule for the month as well as a bulletin and was invited to come back. I intend to revisit this church again since I was not able to attend the full service.
